Appeal
An appeal may be granted by a higher court if the court believes that errors were made in the lower court. A condition of the grant of appeal is that the appellant furnish a bond, guaranteeing that if the case is decided against him, he will immediately pay the judgment with interest from the date of the award from the lower court. The bond also guarantees payment of the court cost.
Only 20% of appeals are decided in favor of defendant appellants. Therefore, collateral is always required with appeal bonds. |
